In 2011, the National Park issued a Request for Proposals to lease three vacant bathhouses. They sought companies to re-purpose the historic buildings providing new ways for park visitors to enjoy the thermal spring water. 30 years after the Superior Bathhouse closed its doors to bathers in 1983, she will enjoy a grand reopening as the Superior Bathhouse Brewery & Distillery.
Great beverages require great water and great water is the reason Hot Springs became America’s first resort. The National Park Service sends thermal water to the Superior in its hot state, at about 144 degrees. From that point we will use our custom built brewing and distilling equipment and the highest quality grains, hops, and yeast to turn that water into fine craft beers, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages including root beer and seltzer.
From that point on, YOUR TURN to enjoy our products. Weekly tours will be offered so that visitors can learn about the brewing and distilling processes, get a close-up view of the bathhouse, enjoy samples, and shop in our gift shop. The Superior main floor has been transformed into a Craft Beer Tasting Room with seating for over 100. The original front sun porch features almost 75 feet of windows in which to sit and watch the world go by while sipping on a cold beverage. Within a few years, we plan a second floor reception hall for 80-100 and an outdoor patio on the Arlington Lawn adjacent to the Superior.
Our Craft Beer Tasting Room opened in July of 2013 and the Brewery and Distillery will come on line by Late Fall, 2013. We hope to have a beer with you soon.
In great spirits,
Distillatrix and Owner, Rose S. Cranson
